Child Of Artemis

I hate being a fresh IT graduate right now.

This will probably be taken as simple whining by some people. "Oh no the new generation doesn't want to work hard anymore." Problem is, I do. I do want to work, I work hard, I'm not a dumbass. What I don't want to Have to do, is to work during my education. Because I'm already stressed to shit to meet all the educational guidelines, while not going insane, I don't need more pressure on my head. I don't know how it was before, but now it's a standard. You have to have an internship position during your education or have an active project to have a mere slip of a chance for you to get considered. It's not enough to earn a bachelor's to have a Chance of being picked. I read this LinkedIn post today, which warranted this "whining", from the company which submitted a job opportunity I was very excited to get. Not just for money or something, but genuinely. She said she received almost a 1000 applications for this entry level position. Both from people like me, but also from people who she called "overqualified" - people with multiple years of work experience in IT. Call me a pessimist, but out of a 1000 applications, I highly doubt I ended up even in top-100. When I was making a career choice I was making it as far as 6 years back, if not more. The landscape changed so much and so quickly I'm one of those who failed to adapt. I'm seriously thinking of changing the proffesion entirely. I'm lucky to have a wife, who has a great job right now and we're both additionally being supported by her parents. In this, we're very very lucky of which I'm painfully aware and I thank Gods and Fates that we have this. But my own struggles are not just magically negated.
