Pagan Experiences - Introduction

In the year 2026, there are only a few mainstream religions that are recognized and popularized en masse. The loudest voice in Europe and America belongs to Abrahamic religions, in particular to Christianity.

Although I personally do not have any strong prejudice towards Chriatianity as a religion, there are a lot of people on whom Christianity left a very deep mark. Additionally it, together with the governments, suppresses and demonizes creation or resurface of old religions and practises. (In some parts of the world it is even illegal, so please don't forget about your safety.)

Because of the mainstream look on religion, some people do not even realize that the Old Gods and Old Religions have never left. I can say by personal experience that some people don't even realize that stories that we call myths are not The Religion itself. They don't realize there's much more than myths.

I can assure you - Old Gods are still here and they listen very carefully.

In this Pagan Experiences series I will discuss my own experiences and knowledge about the Gods, spirits, witchcraft and more. I will be centering this around my worship, which is very messy at times.

I hold a strong belief that if a religion and it's Gods can't adapt to changing times and human society - there is no benefit of following such Gods.

That's why although, at the basics, I follow ancient Greek (Hellenic) Gods and main ideas of ancient Hellenic polytheism, I adapt it to our modern times and ideas.

Some of you can then say, well, what kind of a religion is that which you can adapt to your own needs? A non centralized, personal religion that is, aka the state that current polytheism (belief in multiple Gods) and paganism stand in. More on that I'll talk in the following posts.

I was writing a book about this actually like 4 years back, or, well, I started to. I'm glad to be able to blow the dust away from it. I didn't get far in my notes, so I'll be re-researching a lot of things together with y'all.

In the next installment of this posts series we'll talk about main terminology you can encounter in pagan spaces and that I will be using in my posts further on.

If you have any suggestions for new posts, would like to have a discussion, or just to say hi, don't be shy to shoot me an email. I'd love to hear from you!
